Boise State dreaming of something that should never be…

If you watched ESPN tonight, they showed Boise State running all over Fresno State, 61-10, giving the Broncos a 12-0 season and their fans something to hope for.

Boise State has one shot at a BCS game, and that’s for Oregon to beat Oregon State tomorrow night, and then to have BCS bowls choose their team over Ohio State.

Throughout the entire game, the commentators were constantly pounding the “let Boise State play in the BCS” mantra, and for some reason, they kept showing the Ohio State schedule.

Look, we know that not a lot of people respect our schedule this year, but when you’re beating that drum, let’s keep in mind that the school you are advocating over OSU played a schedule that consisted of a mess of schools in the WAC, along with the following powerhouses;

  • Idaho State (1-11)
  • Bowling Green (6-6)
  • Southern Miss (5-6)
  • Oregon (8-3)

I’ll give you Oregon.  But that was the lone school on the schedule worth anything.  NO other WAC team finished with less than 4 losses.  This is a REALLY weak conference, and finishing 12-0 in this league is no hard task.

I don’t think it’ll be hard to convince the BCS system to take Ohio State over Boise State, but let me show you one line from the ESPN article about tonight’s win;

As the record crowd of 32,412 sat stunned, the jubilant Bulldogs defense formed a dog pile in the end zone after the score that put Boise State behind for only the third time all season.

Read those first six words again…..

As the record crowd of 32,412

Do you need any more, BCS?  Their BEST CROWD EVER is less than a third of a TYPICAL Saturday in Columbus.  We travel better, we spend better, and we’ll make a whole vacation of it for the economy of your particular bowl.

Do the right thing, and send these backwards wannabes back to the Smurf-Bowl against Ball State.  Winner can whine for 6 months about the system that ripped them off and a whole stadium of 32,000 people will actually care.

That is, if Oregon takes care of business for us.
