Bojan Bogdanovic, Nets’ Euro-Stash, Probably Won’t Join Team Next Season

Not breaking news, per se, but according to Nets Daily, some comments that Bojan Bogdanovic, the Croatian sharpshooting forward the Nets hold the rights to, made recently could mean that the 6’8” forward won’t sign with Brooklyn next season, and will instead remain in Turkey with Fenerbahce Ulker.

The Miami Heat drafted Bogdanovic, who was rumored to possibly join the Nets before this season, in the 2011 Draft before trading him to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the deal that netted them Norris Cole. Then, Minnesota sold his draft rights to the Nets for a 2013 second-rounder and cash. Brooklyn has the exclusive right to negotiate with Bogdanovic, who is one of Europe’s top NBA prospects.

Now, it’s still unknown when or if the Nets will ever get the reap the rewards for their draft pick and monetary investment. Bogdanovic is making a lot of money with Fenerbahce, and has enjoyed some success with that team, so the incentive to head overseas to the United States and Brooklyn isn’t quite as strong as most people would think.

However, it would be a huge boon for the Nets to add him to their already intimidating talent pool, as his skill set–similar in some ways to Mirza Teletovic’s–is one suiting the NBA’s style of play well.
