Bolts Leaving Las Vegas Fortuneless

NHL-AwardsThe Lightning are leaving Las Vegas without any hardware. Tampa Bay was shut out from receiving any NHL awards last night, despite having four finalists.

The Bots’ Ondrej Palat and Tyler Johnson finished second and third respectively in the Calder Triophy voting for Rookie of the Year. Avalanche rookie Nathan MacKinnon won the award easily, garnering 130 of the 137 first place votes.Palat and Johnson also finished eighth and nineteenth in Selke voting. Both Bolts rookies were selected to the NHL All Rookie Team.

Colorado’s Patrick Roy won the Jack Adams Award for the Coach of the Year. Lightning coach Jon Cooper finished a distant third, behind Roy and the Red Wings’ Mike Babcock.

Victor Hedman finished ninth in Norris Trophy voting, receiving first place vote, one second place vote, five fourth place votes,and ten fifth place votes. Chicago blueliner Duncan Keith won the coveted Norris Trophy.

GM Steve Yzerman finished eighth  in GM of the Year voting. Anaheim’s Bob Murray won the award.

Tampa Bay goalie Ben Bishop finished third in the Vezina Trophy balloting, well behind the winner, Tuukka Rask of the Bruins. Bishop also finished tenth in the Hart Memorial Trophy voting for NHL MVP.
