Borland, Groy named AP All-Americans

With the bowl season just a few days away from starting, organizations are unveiling their 2013 All-American lists and perhaps the most visible and longest lasting of them all is the AP All-American team. On Monday the organization unveiled its 2013 teams

The Badgers were represented pretty well, with Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, Chris Borland, being named to the 2nd team. Offensive Lineman Ryan Groy joined Borland on the honor roll, coming in as a 3rd team selection this year.

Borland had 102 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and 4 sacks in 11 games this season. The next closest Badger in tackles was safety Michael Caputo with 62 tackles. This was then second year Borland has appeared on an All-American list, earning 3rd team honors on the Yahoo! list in 2011.

Groy, a fifth-year senior, earned his first All-American honors after being named 1st team All-Big Ten (coaches) and 2nd team All-Big Ten (media) earlier this month. He has played every position on the offensive line with the exception of right tackle during his four years of starting at some point in time for the Badgers.

What may be more surprising was not seeing the names of Jared Abbrederis, Melvin Gordon or James White on any teams this season.
