BOS 5, SEA 3: Powered by Jason

No warning track power this time, Jason Bay wasn’t going to be short changed.
Bay blasted a fastball from Garrett Olson to left field well over the fence giving Boston a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
Then, Jason Varitek took Olson deep for another two-run homer putting the Red Sox ahead 4-0 in the second.
Boston added one more home run, a solo-shot from Jeff Bailey in the fifth, and Josh Beckett did his part to stop a 3-game losing skid.
Beckett (4-2) went seven inning, yielding four hits, three runs (two earned), three walks and five strikeouts.
Stars of the Game – Beckett, Bay, Varitek
1) Beckett – Boston needed a solid pitching performance like that to stop this skid.
2) Bay – Some early runs took some pressure off of Beckett and gave Red Sox fans a little room to breathe.
3) Varitek – He put the game away with his two-run homer.
Next Game – 5/17 vs. Seattle Mariners – Justin Masterson/Jason Vargas
Boston looks to get things back on track with a win, off day and a home stand against Toronto.
