Opposing teams must fear the sixth inning against the Boston Red Sox.
Boston torched opposing pitching again in the sixth inning as Jason Bay launched a three-run homer off of James Shields and J.D. Drew followed with a two-run blast as the Red Sox mounted a five-run come from behind inning and victory over the Rays.
Dustin Pedroia was 4-for-5 on the night with one RBI and one run.
Star of the Game – Bay
Bay has been earning a lot of these lately.
No one will ever be sure why Shields threw Bay an 0-2 fastball but if there is one thing for sure it’s that Bay doesn’t miss fastballs over the heart of the plate. That is Bay’s ninth homer of the season and he also added to his RBI total with 32 on the season.
Next Game – 5/09 vs. Tampa Bay Rays – Scott Kazmir/Jon Lester
This is always an exciting matchup to watch two young stellar lefties throw against each other.
