After trading for Jimmy Hayes, I was told by some friends in the know with the Panthers that he would get a Reilly Smith type deal but could possible take a hometown discount. While I figured the possibility was there, I didn’t think it would be this significant.
Jimmy Hayes has signed a 3 year, $6.9M contract with an AAV of $2.3M.
Even more impressive is the 1 year, $1.025M Brett Connolly signed today.
If you’re playing a long at home, it looks like Boston still has about $5,564,333 in salary cap space for this season, which could be used for Johnny Oduya or Cody Franson.
