Boston College Edges Maine

This was a matchup that really determined the strength of each team but Boston College pulled away from Maine in the fourth quarter after leading 10-3 through the second and third. The Eagles put up 14 points in the fourth quarter alone to drive away with the win. QB Darius Wade for the Eagles started off the 2015 season with  a solid performance (14-25 155 yards 1 TD). Wade in the first quarter made solid, short passes which were effective but ended up in 3 and outs on most drives. Maine struck first on the scoring column as they marched down the field on their first drive (which lasted a while), and K Sean Decloux nailed a 39 yd FG to give the Black Bears a 3-0 lead with 11:05 left in the 1st quarter.  BC answered back in the second quarter as K Alex Howell kicked a 31 yd FG with 9:54 left to tie the game up at 3. Maine would never score again. The second quarter continued but it was a true battle of defense for both teams as they slugged it out until :26 seconds left till halftime when Wade and the Eagles marched down the field on the last drive and Wade hit WR Bobby Swigert for a 11 yd TD pass to spread the lead to 7 at 10-3. This was the only TD pass of the entire game. The third quarter rolled around and it was a tough battle. Nobody scored at all as the score stayed at 10-3 BC. As the 4th quarter showed up, fans and reporters were wondering if a upset is possible for the Black Bears, who have not beaten the Eagles in over a 100 years (Last time was in 1912). It was a possible result and could definitely give Maine more recognition on the map. Wade and the Eagles chipped time off the clock in the fourth quarter as they ran the ball mainly and RB Tyler Rouse scored twice to give BC a 24-3 lead to win the game. QB Dan Collins of Maine went 12/29 with 81 yds and a interception in his 2015 season debut with the Black Bears.
