This happens everytime a Boston player who doesn't quite meet the local media's litmus test for game performance or aftergame quotes, so take it as you will. But the Boston Herald published a story today with an interesting line thrown in there about how much Seguin wass partying:
It apparently got so bad that during the playoffs, the Bruins ordered Seguin to live in a hotel, where a guard was hired to make sure he stayed in his room.
No real attribution to where that intel came from, of course. Again, this shit happens every fucking time in Boston. Ference is one of 5 Boston athletes that have left the city and not got shat on by the media.
If true, not sure how that doesn't come out earlier or why it's just a throw-a-way line in the middle of a story. That's a pretty big deal. Not sure we entirely believe this either (is that even legal?), but we guess it doesn't really matter now anyways. The kid is gone and the Loui Eriksson era begins in Boston.
As for Ty-Ty, he'll bounce back in Dallas. No worries there. Also, Dallas has a pretty sweet night life we hear.
UPDATE: The Toronto Star interviewed Seguin's mother, Jackie, for some reason:
“That’s not true,” Jackie said, adding that she and her husband, Paul, spent much time with their son in Boston during the Stanley Cup final.
“I know that for a fact,” she added, her voice rising. “The whole team lived in the hotel. That’s crap. Oh, my God. That’s stupid stuff. That’s very unfair to say that. He’s a professional. That makes me very angry.”
She said Tyler often didn’t even go out for dinner because he wanted to stay back in the team hotel in Boston.
She said the reports of his out-of-control nightlife are false. “He was either at the hotel or he was with his dad,” Jackie said.
Seguin’s mother said Tyler and his father spent much time going to movies, dinners, shopping and walking Tyler’s dog.
To be fair, not sure many 19-21 year olds who would brag about getting hammered to their parents. She is right that the teams will often live in hotels during playoff time, as a way of minimizing distractions. Chia was trying to downplay the whole party boy narrative, too. We'll probably never know the truth of this matter, honestly. It's just zany Boston media (and now Toronto) looking for dirt to sling at a kid.
