Boston Strong

On the one year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing, all of us here at Red’s Army send strength, prayers and well wishes to all those affected. It is a somber day here in Boston, but the great people of this city are doing whatever it takes to comfort those in need. I took a walk down Boylston Street earlier today, and among the hundreds of police and media members were everyday people reflecting on what happened the afternoon of 4/15/13. There were hugs, handshakes, people consoling one another and some just pausing to reflect quietly. You could feel the sadness in the air, but you could also sense a feeling of hope. Bostonians are tough, resilient people who truly look out for one another. This city has been through so much over the last year, and I’m blown away by the constant outpouring of support from those in Boston and around the world. In the days after the bombing, calls flowed in to the hospital I work at asking us if we needed anything. “How are you all holding up..?” “We are thinking of you folks..” were just some of the well wishes. It meant so much.

ESPN put together this great 16-minute piece on how the city and it’s sports teams share a special bond. And how that bond gave the people of Boston strength when they needed it most. Boston. Strong.

There will be a moment of silence today at 2:49pm EST in remembrance of those who lost their lives on April 15th, 2013.
