It looks like the Boston Bruins will be hosting the 2016 Winter Classic. Puck Daddy reports:
According to TSN’s Bob McKenzie, the NHL is in talks with the Boston Bruins for the 2016 Winter Classic. It was said on TSN’s Insider Trading.
Per McKenzie:
“I would think that by mid-January to mid-February, that it could be finalized if all goes well. That’s the primary focus right now, but the deal not done just yet.”
I would think Fenway Park is out of the picture. The 2010 Winter Classic, while amazing on TV, was awful to be at. The biggest complaint I herd was sight lines. I believe the NHL will go with a football venue. You can fit more people which means more money for everyone and the sight lines are much better. I think it will be at Gillette Stadium, though driving to Gillette for anything is a fucking nightmare. The other two main venues would be Harvard Stadium and Alumni Stadium.
