Just when I thought the Sharks had their series against the Blues completely wrapped up, St. Louis came back and delivered a monster win in Game 4. The Blues are dealing with several injuries, none more evident than those to Robby Fabbri and David Backes, but it was a change in net that may have been a jolt the team needed. Brian Elliot was sent to the bench and Jake Turner was given the start, and did OK.
Make no mistake, the change in net didn’t really impact the goaltending, so much as it lit a fire under the asses of the skaters. The Blues pumped 6 goals into the net, and still allowed 3. The Blues will keep Turner in net for Game 5, but one has to wonder if he is there to stop pucks, or simply to maintain good vibes.
SCOREBOARD
St. Louis 6, San Jose 3 – In an effort to explain how well the Blues played: Kyle Brodzak scored 2 goals.
