Philadelphia PA: If you said the Phillies would start the season above .500 and sweep the Washington Nationals, most people would have thought you lost your marbles. Well the young squad has been a pleasant surprise and are clearly playing some quality baseball. As mentioned the Phillies came into this current series with a sweep to the Nationals and have now won their 5th straight game including eight out of their last nine. The starting pitching has given the team multiple quality starts and the bullpen has settled in remarkably since the beginning of April. Jeanmar Gomez has really been getting the job done in the closers role as he remains perfect, recording his 8th save in his eighth opportunity against the Indians earlier tonight.
Fun Fact: With this win the Phillies improve to 4 games above .500 for the first time since 2011. They advance to 14-10 on the season and are now in 3rd place just 2.5 games behind the Nationals.
Standout Moments:
Freddy Galvis got the offense started early as he hit a 2-run blast into right, to give the Phils a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning. It did not take long for the Phillies to add to their lead as Jared Eickhoff helped himself out by plating Ruf with an rbi base-hit into center in the 2nd inning to put the Phils up 3-0.

2nd baseman Caesar Hernandez made a fantastic running catch into foul territory to help keep the Indians at bay in the middle innings of the game.
Despite recording an rbi sac-fly, Darin Ruf flashed the leather with a leaping catch in left to rob Jason Kipnis of an extra-base hit.

With two outs in the 7th, Galvis would come up big again, as he blooped a perfectly placed broken-bat rbi base-hit down the right field line plating David Lough to score what would ultimately become the Phillies game-winning run.

After getting 2 outs, closer Jeanmar Gomez, would run into a bit of a jam as he allowed the tying and go-ahead runs to reach 2nd & 3rd. It would come down to Jason Kipnis who again was robbed of a big hit, this time by Peter Bourjous, who made a gourgous (pun intended) catch at the wall in right to secure the Phillies 4-3 win.
