I hope that everyone enjoyed a safe and merry Christmas. This is a quick simple notes blog before the Ottawa’s back-to-back games versus Boston this weekend.
If you haven’t had a chance, pick up today’s Ottawa Citizen and flip it to B4 to read an article that Ian Mendes penned. Oh, and also be sure to also check out my article on page B4 too – if you can’t buy a newspaper, you can access the article on the SenatorsExtra.com’s website. For what it’s worth however, the sports section is pretty meaty with Senators coverage, so pick it up.
Senators prospect Curtis Lazar picked up an assist this morning in Canada’s 7-2 tournament opening victory over Germany.
Speaking of Lazar, he was included as part the World Junior Team Canada write up for ESPN Insider (paywall) in which Corey Pronman bestowed some praise on the Senators’ 2013 first round pick.
“Lazar is a really fun player to watch because he will blow you away with offensive skill, and because he does everything well and brings high-end work ethic to every shift. Lazar is a high-pace type of player with his speed and hustle, but also has solid puck skills and a pretty good shot. He's also pretty advanced defensively for a player his age.”
Most fans would have settled for, “He isn’t Jim O’Brien.” But, this review should warm the hearts of prospect porn indulging Senators fans.
