I mean, really, what are you going to do? Clayton Kershaw is just incredibly good. He’s the best pitcher in the world. When he’s on, you can’t beat. He was on in this game and the Angels didn’t beat him. They didn’t even play poorly, they just weren’t as good as Kershaw, which is entirely normal.

It is never a good thing when two of the top three offensive performers were pinch-hitters. Albert Pujols was really the only guy who did anything real for the Halos though. Unfortunately, Mike Trout and Erick Aybar sandwiched Pujols and both had bad days.

Andrew Heaney struggled for the first time as an Angel. He didn’t have a bad day, but he was clearly battling his command. He did well though to keep the Angels in the game. Not that it mattered because Kershaw just wasn’t going to allow the Angels to get on the board.

Fernando Salas needs to not ever pitch in a close game ever again for the rest of forever, ever. Had he gotten out of that inning, the run the Angels scratched out against Kenley Jansen might’ve been meaningful.

That big downward plummet was when Fernando Salas happened.
Halo A-Hole
That decision to not trade for bullpen help continues to look brilliant.
