What happens when you walk four batters in one inning? You set yourself up to get metaphorically walked all over the rest of the game. That’s what happened for Hector Santiago and the Angels who once again dug themselves an early hole that the offense was totally incapable of digging the team out of.
Blue Jays 9, Angels 2

Facing David Price is no easy task. Facing any pitcher with a pulse hasn’t been an easy task for this lineup lately, so I guess we should consider ourselves lucky that they even got two runs off of him. Kole Calhoun had a homer and Chris Iannetta had a pure luck double, but maybe one that can help shake him out of his deep, deep slump. Ryan Jackson sure didn’t make a case for him being an upgrade over Taylor Featherston.

Price was terrific because he’s David Price, who is terrific. Hector Santiago was just a disaster in that first inning. Amazingly, he could’ve gotten out of it relatively unscathed if Shane Victorino had just made that catch which he really should’ve made. Hector really wasn’t all that bad after the first, which is the real shame of Shane going all Shanf on that eyes closed sliding catch attempt.
Bullpen Battle

A lineup featuring Tulo, Donaldson, Bautista, Encarnacion and Martin is really not a lineup that you want to overexpose your lefty relievers to, but Santiago’s short night forced that to happen. It did not end well for Jose Alvarez or Cesar Ramos. The Jays then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by having Mark Lowe finish off the game by striking out the side.

That’s a mighty big hole those four walks and dropped flyball put the Angels in. The rest of the game was just Toronto throwing dirt on them.
Halo A-Hole
Four walks in an inning is too much.
