Run Expectancy Rundown

The Angels were pretty quiet right up until Chris Denorfia matadored that ball in right followed by C.J. Cron (who honestly should have been pinch-hit for by Josh Hamilton) launched a three-run bomb. There really wasn’t much else beside that. One certainly can’t help but note that Mike Trout wore the Golden Sombrero once more, but one also can’t help but note that he got hosed a bit by a pretty wide strike zone.

Starting Pitcher Scores

Wilson was legitimately terrific. This wasn’t one of those starts where he had a good line because a lot of screaming liners got hit into the right gloves. No, he missed a ton of bats, constantly around the zone and efficient with his pitches. Even if it isn’t sustainable, just knowing that he is still capable of this is encouraging as the postseason fast approaches.

James Paxton had a pretty terrific night in his own right before the bullpen flushed his great start down the toilet. His ability to dominate like that is one of the reasons so many teams are scared of having to face the Mariners in ALDS.

Bullpen Battle

Of course, they wouldn’t have been up by five if Danny Farquhar hadn’t had a complete meltdown.

But they also never had a win expectancy over 58% until that seventh inning. By the end of that inning, the game was over.

I had a hard time deciding between C.J. and C.J., but I ultimately decided to go with C.J. since we haven’t seen this from him for so long. Congrats, C.J.! Apologies, other C.J..
