Boxscore Breakdown #55: Horsehoes – Yankees 8, Angels 7

6668

The Angels almost pulled off an epic comeback, but we all know that almost only counts in horseshoes, bocce ball and hand grenades. I suppose there is some solace in knowing the Halos are even offensively capable of sparking a six-run comeback in the ninth inning, but it is also just as painful to know that they pulled that off and still ended up with the loss.

Of course, Albert Pujols is now in danger of falling under that mark once again. Kirk Nieuwenhuis had a real rough day with two rough strike outs and getting picked off in a pretty bizarre situation.

Alex Rodriguez, I can live with, but Drew? C’mon, man.

Yeah, he could’ve done more to keep the Yankees from hurting him, but this was pretty much what we all expected. Eovaldi wasn’t all that much better as he allowed several threats, but the Angels just kept missing out on cashing in.

OH WELL. Edgar Ibarra ate some inning but gave up what seemed like a totally inconsequential insurance run. Oh, if only we knew what laid ahead.

They were so close. SO CLOSE. Too bad Johnny G and the Perezident ran out of clutch magic.

How do you even give up two dingers to Stephen Drew? Seriously, I want an explanation.
