Boxscore Breakdown #68: Halfway there – Braves 7, Angels 3

minialpacashannah

The Angels got halfway to a great game. How quickly we had forgotten that this is the Hector Santiago specialty of looking good for four or five innings before just falling to pieces. Alas, Kevin Jepsen turned back into a pumpkin and couldn’t bail Hector out, leaving the Angels with a pretty sad second half to the game.

Run Expectancy Rundown

You’d think with Mike Trout, Albert Pujols and Erick Aybar having quality RE24 numbers that the Angels would’ve scored more runs. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be as Collin Cowgill, Howie Kendrick and David Freese all did less than nothing.

Tommy La Stella is still pretty new to this MLB thing, but it didn’t stop him from thumping the Angels. The rest of the lineup, save for Andrelton Simmons, all pitched in as well, but it was La Stella delivering the big blow.

Starting Pitcher Scores

It is a tough day when Hector Santiago outpitches Mike Minor and the Angels still lose.

Bullpen Battle

Just a bad day all around for the Halo bullpen. Kevin Jepsen blew a save, Cam Bedrosian got hit hard again and Dane De La Rosa made his untriumphant return bearing only a 90 MPH fastball. Zoiks. Meanwhile, the Braves bullpen was virtually flawless.

Game Flow

We got, we got it, we go it. We don’t got it.
