Welp, so much for that whole only expansion team at .500 thing. An entire game! Very exciting. Oh, well, I’m sure they’ll get back there soon.
As for the game itself, this was just one of those “what are you going to do?” games. When a knuckleballer has his knuckler working right, just about any lineup is going to be helpless. This was one of those nights.
Run Expectancy Rundown
Honestly, I don’t even know how two guys were in the positive. Ugh.
The shame of it is that the Toronto offense didn’t do much outside of Jose Reyes. Reyes did A LOT, granted, but the rest of the lineup was largely useless.
Starting Pitcher Scores
R.A. Dickey was just great and Tyler Skaggs wasn’t. It felt like Skaggs got BABIP’d again, but I also feel like I say that a lot.
Bullpen Battle
Mike Morin got touched up for a run and Cam Bedrosian came back to the majors and managed not to walk anyone. Good job, Cam! The Toronto bullpen didn’t really allow the Angels back into the game, which is weird. I guess I was just so used to the awful Houston bullpen.
Game Flow
The Angels just bled to death in this one. They hung on as long as they could, but they just ran out of energy.
Halo A-Hole
Nobody was particularly bad, but someone has to take the fall and Skaggs is guilty of not being as good as Dickey.
