Doubleheaders are fun, they are even more fun when your team wins both games. They are even more fun than that when sweeping the doubleheader also means sweeping the series. They are even more fun than that when the team getting swept is the Red Sox. I guess what I’m saying is that this doubleheader was fun.

Angels 7, Red Sox 3

Run Expectancy Rundown

Frankly, I’m just amazed that they scored seven runs despite having the increased degree of difficulty of starting both Matt Joyce and Dan Robertson as well as starting Carlos Perez and Taylor Featherston over Iannetta and Freese, respectively.

In my opinion, you kind of can’t blame him because he demolished that ball. At the same time, you’d think even he would have the good sense to realize that Boston was about to suffer a four-game sweep in which they were outscored 22-4.

Starting Pitcher Scores

He was very good and very efficient. He did finally make a mistake with the homer, but he was cruising throughout the rest of the game. Steven Wright did not cruise but I’m going to spare you the obvious Steven Wrong pun.

Bullpen Battle

Joe Smith had to save his bacon and picked up an actual save for his trouble. The Red Sox pen allowed the second Pujols dinger, but kept the game from getting out of hand.

I think it is safe to say that the Home Run Derby did not mess up Albert’s swing.
