Boxscore Breakdown #94: No slowing down – Angels 5, Twins 2

rock bottom

A banged up Mike Trout? Not a problem. Losing David Freese to a fracture finger? A mere inconvenience. Matt Joyce still in the lineup for some reason? Even that can’t slow down the Angels.

Mike Trout returned, but had a bad night. It wasn’t as bad as David Freese’s night which ended with him on the DL.

That only happened because of Dan Robertson doing his best Mike Trout impression in the outfield.

Wilson spent five innings trying to get himself out of trouble and was mostly successful. Mike Pelfrey did the same for six innings and with less success.

Bullpen Battle

A timely out made at home plate resulted in Huston Street earning his 300th save, a milestone which would mean a lot if saves weren’t a garbage statistic.

The Halos were, however, unable to put the game away early as they have so often in the last 20 games.

If Kole Calhoun gets any hotter, he will turn into magma.
