Run Expectancy Rundown
Mike Trout and Chris Iannetta were the only positive contributors, which is no surprise. This was a game where it felt like so many players could’ve done something big, but nobody managed to actually come through.

Starting Pitcher Scores
Another clunker of a start from Santiago who was once again victimized by one bad inning and too many walks. This time he mixed a balk in as well, just to spice things up. Nuno wasn’t much better, but at least he didn’t balk in a run. The little things make the difference some time.
Bullpen Battle
Well, this is frustrating. The Angels bullpen only allowed one runner to reach base, but they did it in a losing effort. Meanwhile, the Yankees bullpen looked much worse, but because they managed to hold it together, barely, they got a big WPA edge.
Game Flow
Peaks and valleys. It was a general downward trend from the fifth inning on, but there were infrequent spikes where the Angels had a chance. Unfortunately, they quickly turned into big dips because the Angels never cashed those chances in. Sigh.
Halo A-Hole
Santiago was lousy, but Howie Kendrick stranded a small village in scoring position with the game on the line.
