Blog Poll: Week 6

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you weekend was very nice. Mine was something like that. Hey, the Bengals won yesterday, that was pretty awesome. I didn’t have a ton of faith in the Bengals this season. They’ve really surprised me. What’s been the difference is the defense. Mike Zimmer is doing one hell of a job. I don’t know how he hasn’t been a coach yet, but I hope no one hires him and he works for the Bengals forever. I like the foundation. If they only had a great offensive line and maybe another back, they could do some things. I don’t really know how they lost to Denver still. That one is going to hurt. It’s hurting now because they should be 4-1 instead of 3-2. Denver is terrible. I’m really happy to be a fan of this Bengals team. They play hard, they actually complete deep balls, and they grind it out for the full 60. That’s all I ask.

This isn’t a Bengals blog though, hence why it’s titled Bearcats Blog, so I’ll get back to the college game. As you can see by the title, it’s blog poll day. The final ballot is due tomorrow, so if you think I should switch some things around, get back to me on here or on twitter. The only thing I’m not changing is ranking every undefeated team, outside of Houston, ahead of every 1 loss team. I’m going NCAA ’11 on your asses. Houston would be ranked higher, but they have really struggled. They needed a huge rally to be Louisiana Tech, barely beat UTEP, and more shockingly, only beat UCLA by 3. They just aren’t that good. To keep this post going, here is a list of the games I watched this weekend, either the whole thing, or significant chunks.

  • Oklahoma v. Texas
  • Georgia Tech v. Maryland
  • West Virginia v. UConn
  • Louisville v. North Carolina
  • South Carolina v. Kentucky
  • Wake Forest v. Florida State
  • Clemson v. BC
  • LSU v. Florida
  • Virginia Tech v. Miami
  • Arizona St v. Utah
  • Notre Dame v. Air Force, although I only watched until it was a blowout
  • Rutgers v. Pittsburgh
  • Penn State v. Iowa
  • Alabama v. Vandy
  • Arkansas v. Auburn
  • Michigan v. Northwestern
  • Texas A&M v. Texas Tech
  • Georgia v. Tennessee somewhat
  • Nebraska v. Ohio State
  • The end of Syracuse v. Tulane, the middle parts of Stanford v. Colorado and the end of Washington St and UCLA

That seems like a lot, but in the era where you can watch multiple games at once, that isn’t so much. Try following the action on twitter. People tweet about 7,000 games at once. It’s insane.

Here is the ballot. Undefeateds stay up top, with Clemson falling a little. Arkansas and Virginia Tech are rewarded for their wins, and move up the 1 loss chain. Texas and Florida are hammered for losing. Florida was almost out, but they lost to the 2 best teams in my poll, and America, so I couldn’t drop them all the way out. Auburn and Florida State are gone.
