Boston Celtics close to signing enigmatic big man JaVale McGee, multiple sources told ESPN. Deal with be through next season.

Shortly after Goodman broke the news, Danny Ainge all but confirmed the report during his weekly interview on Toucher and Rich.
Ainge on McGee: "He hasn't lived up to his potential yet, and we're hoping that he can under Brad Stevens. We think he's in a good place."

Some reaction from Twitter:
JaVale has all the physical tools, but he's barely played in 2 years, and it's never been clear if he understands basketball.

@Marc_Bertrand If he still sucks when he gets healthy, you dump him. No harm done to your cap.

The 76ers flat-out waived McGee after acquiring him in a deal with Denver. He earned $12 million this season and Philly is on the hook for $12 million next season.
There was talk McGee would look to sign with a contender. Apparently he chose Boston.
It appears the Celtics have signed him through next season.
Buckle up. Javale is a human blooper reel.
