Is Your Bracket Busted Yet?

In short, probably. This year’s NCAA Men’s basketball tournament has been no different from any other year. Fan favorites have fallen by the wayside and Cinderella teams have risen from the depths. The most recent games have been nothing short of spectacular, with bracket busters showing up everywhere.

Tournament favorite and perennial powerhouse Duke is the most recent team to fall short of the Sweet 16. The South Carolina Gamecocks put together a game plan that was able to thwart the Blue Devils run. South Carolina scored an absurd 65 points in the second half. Coach K simply said that it was the most physical team they had faced all year, with Duke committing 18 turnovers. South Carolina will now face Baylor in the next round.

Last year’s championship game was one of the greatest games in recent memory. With back-to-back buzzer beaters ending in a Villanova victory, the Wildcats were poised to go the distance again. Those hopes were dashed as the eighth seeded Wisconsin Badgers won 65-62. With just over 11 seconds left to play, Badgers F Nigel Hayes drove to the basket for a lay in to take the lead. They never gave it up. Wisconsin ended the game on a 15-5 run to finish the game.

The next round of the tournament tips off Thursday to see who will enter the Elite Eight. Stay tuned to TTownSports.com for tournament coverage.
