This is the second time this season, on record, that Brandon Inge has visited a hospital and promised a young patient that he would hit a home run in that night’s game. Today, it was young Noah who asked Inge to homer for him, and like he promised young Timmy, or Johnny, or whoever it was earlier this season, Inge let the young kid put his name on his forearm. And then he went out and hit a home run for him. It was Inge’s 25th HR of the season.
What’s the deal with Inge and putting names on his forearms? As we broke to you earlier this week, Inge tattooed his sons’ names on his forearms as a sign of love and now he has at least twice let hospital youths autograph his forearms. Honestly, the letting hospital patients autograph your arm is kind of cute, but the gangster-looking tattoos is borderline. Either way, it’s all getting a little confusing. Oh well.
Inge is 4-14 since getting that real ink on his forearms. He has 1 HR, 1 RBI, and 6 strikeouts over that span.
UPDATE: Inge is now 5-17 (.294) with the tattoos.
