BRANDON RIOS SAYS HE IS ALWAYS LOOKING FOR THE KNOCKOUT

Indiana-North Carolina Central

It doesn’t happen until November 23, 2013, but Brandon Rios (31-1-1, 23KO’s) from Oxnard, California will be fighting in the biggest fight of his career.  His opponent is none other than the eight-time world champion, Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao (54-5-2, 38KO’s) and it will take place in Macau, China.

Rios won the WBA Lightweight Title in 2011 by a convincing knockout against Miguel Acosta (29-7,23KO’s) and went on to defend it only once.  The next two fights he won but failed to make the weight.  In his next match, he knocked out Mike Alvarado (34-1, 23KO’s) to win the WBO Latino Light Welterweight title.  Five months later, Mike Alvarado avenged the loss by putting on an exhibition of the sweet science to perfection because Rios was not able to cut him off in the ring.

But that is nothing compared to what he will face against the greatest fighter to come out of the Philippines. Nevertheless, when NTF last spoke to Rios, Rios held nothing back.  He spoke about who he is going to be ready for in November, and that is, one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world, the Pacman.  He went on to say that it was about time that he got this opportunity to fight somebody like Pacquiao and that he will show the world what he can do at that level.  As far as styles go, he plans to come into this fight with his same style of fighting in the ring, but he does not feel that he has any advantage because of the last two losses by Pacquiao.  He even thinks that Pacquiao will probably come into this fight even stronger.  Rios said he plans on being 100%  ready for “the Pacquiao that was dominating boxing, the one who was the pound for pound king.”  And as far as predictions go, Rios said “I am going for the kill, and the way I fight, I always look for a knockout.”

Rios is currently on a world promotion tour with Pacquiao in China which will take them to  Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, Connecticut, New York and finally Los Angeles.  Rios was  quoted from China as saying “I'm nervous speaking in front of you all, but I am not nervous about the fight.  Come November 24, I am going to be 100 percent ready mentally and physically.  I am going to show the world about me and show everybody who said bad things about me that I am going to be just a punching bag.  I'm going to prove them wrong."
