On the first day of the most anticipated free agency period in NBA history, Drew Gooden has sent shockwaves throughout the league by signing a 5-year, $32 million deal with the Milwaukee Bucks. Gooden is one of the most coveted players in the NBA, having played for 8 different teams in the last 8 years.
Bucks GM John Hammond was ecstatic about the signing. “Well, anytime you get the chance to sign a guy like Gooden, you have to take it. When he’s played for that many teams, you know others are going to want him. We’re just happy we got him locked down before someone else came in. He was definitely one of the most sought-after free agents on the market.”
When asked about LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, Hammond’s reply was short and sweet. “Who?”
Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was not available for comment, but sources say he was repeating the words “Dirk Nowitzki” over and over again in his office late into the night yesterday.
