Amir Johnson’s agreement with Boston will pay him $24 million over two years, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsAnd Danny Ainge finally breaks the seal. Not the biggest name on the market, but Johnson will help the Celtics defend. No, he’s not the legitimate rim protector we’re looking for but he has value (ESPN Scouting Report):
– Outstanding help defender; strong and agile in the lane.
– Finishes well around the hoop; struggles on the perimeter.
– Good, not great rebounder; better on the offensive glass.
Question is… is he worth $12 million per? And what do the Celtics need with a 28 year old role player?
Johnson joins Jared Sullinger, Kelly Olynyk, Tyler Zeller and Jonas Jerebko in the front court. Yup, Jonas is coming back:

$17 million in salary next year allocated to two role players. Yikes.
I’m not sure yet if these signings prohibit the Celtics from pursuing a guy like Tobias Harris.
