At this morning’s practice the Lightning announced that left wing Ondrej Palat will miss 3-5 weeks with a lower-body injury. It’s rough news as the team struggles to get their groove back in the early goings of the season.
Palat left Saturday night’s game against the Minnesota Wild in the second period. He and Nino Niederreiter jockeyed for position near the Lightning net. The Minnesota forward lost his footing and came down on Palat’s leg.
You can view the incident here but it isn’t pleasant. Watch at your own risk:
The loss of Palat for an extended period of time is a big blow to the Lightning’s struggling offensive attack. Jon Cooper has referred to him as “the straw that stirs the drink” of his line.
