Wow … I need a bounce back week. It hasn’t been a great couple weeks for Breaking Vegas.
This week, I am much more comfortable in my picks. A lot of weird spreads this week so I am glad that I am only picking 5 games, instead of all the games. The Packers are a 10.5 point favorite after losing two in a row? That’s a scary line to touch.
If you are betting one, and only one, of my picks this week, pick the Saints as a 1 point favorite over an overrated and incredibly average Redskins team. The Saints are going to take the field in the capital and score a lot of points.
Good luck this week. Here’s to a bounce back week!!!
Cleveland Browns @ Pittsburgh Steelers -4.5
This is a tough one for me. I hate giving a team 4.5 points against a backup quarterback. I went back and forth on this one but felt more and more comfortable picking the Steelers. Landry Jones is the right backup quarterback. They tried the Michael Vick experiment and it was OK. Just OK. Jones has a better arm, a better grasp of the Pittsburgh offense, and most importantly, a better relationship on the field with Antonio Brown. Steelers 28 – Browns 21
New England Patriots @ New York Giants +7.5
The Patriots will win this game, but 7.5 points is a lot on the road to a playoff team. This Patriots team is a machine and very well could be on their way to a 16-0 regular season. However, the loss of their main running back threat, Dion Lewis is going to impact their offense more than people are predicting. The Giants will shadow Rob Gronkowski with rookie Landon Collins. That will be the matchup to watch. Patriots 28 – Giants 24
New Orleans Saints -1 @ Washington Redskins
Washington is the worst 3 win team in the league. I realize that isn’t really a bold statement but will come into view this week. A lot of fans haven’t been paying attention but the Saints are getting things going, especially offensively. They have scored 80 points in their past 2 games. That trend will continue. The Saints will outscore the Redskins in a game without a lot of defense. Saints 38 – Redskins 28
Arizona Cardinals +3 @ Seattle Seahawks
Everytime I pick against the Seahawks, I piss off a ton of Seahawk fans. I can’t say that I don’t get at least a little bit of pleasure out of it. In my opinion, this is going to be the game of the week. A rivalry game with playoff implications played in one of the loudest stadiums in the league. I can’t wait for Sunday night. What this game comes down to is what defense forces the opposing offense to make more mistakes. I don’t trust Seattle’s one-dimensional offense. Cardinals 27 – Seahawks 24
Upset Special of the Week:
Dallas Cowboys +2 @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Admittedly, I am a Cowboys fan, and have been since I was born. With that being said, I am 100% aware of just how awful they have been recently. However, the losing streak ends this week. There is too much talent and potential on the Cowboys defense to not force a takeaway against rookie quarterback Jameis Winston. The Cowboys defense has only forced 4 turnovers all year. My bold prediction… they force 4 turnovers in Sunday’s game alone. Cowboys 31 – Bucs 21
