Breathe Like A Champion Today

TimThomasSnowAngel

It seems as if this past week has lasted four months. On Sunday, May 29th, my son was born. Ryan “but you can just call me ‘Victor'” Victor was born as a 6 pound 14 ounce future champion. Unfortunately, he wasn’t quite ready to venture out into the real world.

I have tried to write this post a few times, but each time I thought about it, a hard lump appeared in the back of my throat and my tears rendered me blind. Emotionally, I have never experienced the blending of pride, fear, sadness, and joy with so much power ever in my life.

If I’m a little “all over the place” please forgive me; It’s been a wild week.

Carrie (SD Wife Supreme), Olivia (SD Princess), and I were as prepared for the birth of Victor as we thought we could be. Almost everything was in place, and the few things that weren’t were scheduled to be done before the June 1st arrival date. One of the best things that the Wife Supreme & I did, was to prepare Olivia (2 1/2) for her new brother. That girl was READY for Victor. The room, the house, the dogs- even the blog was prepared. I had spent a lot of time prepping future posts, assigning work to the rest of the staff, and generally lining up for a nice summer.

On the 29th, Carrie and I made our way to the hospital. For Carrie’s body, it was time. I won’t get into the rest of the details, but basically Victor has pneumonia, and has trouble breathing because of the pneumonia. The lungs are the last thing to develop, so he needs some time. The doctors and nurses in the NICU have all been amazing. The help, support, and comfort they have given Carrie, Victor, and I has been top notch. The worst of it, should be behind us- but there is still a long ways to go.

For those of you that have known and have offered your prayers and thoughts; thank-you. We ask that you continue to do so. Faith has really helped keep this whole thing manageable.

Subway Domer’s regular programming is on pause. Regular features such as Baggpipe Monday, and the Play On Playa series won’t be seen in their entirety. That’s not to say that I won’t post a few things here and there, but any promise of regular updates would be false. KGG, The Brawling Hibernian, and Knute School Fools are going to hold the fort down for a while. As my son heals and gets stronger, things will start to get back to normal in our own lives and in my blogosphere-life. I’m not for certain when that might be, but if I had to guess- I’d say possibly by the end of July.

Again, thank-you. I hope that you keep Victor in your prayers.

Go Irish!
