For the second time this season, Cincinnati quarterback Brendon Kay has been named the American offensive player of the week. Kay also won the award after Cincinnati beat Temple. Brendon was 29-50 for 386 yards and 2 TDs, along with running for 38 yards and another score. You can see running like the wind in the photo. It's a well deserved honor for Kay. He probably could have won it either of the last couple weeks, but this was a good one too.
Bearcats defensive end Silverberry Mouhon was named to the honor roll. Good job by him.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league's weekly football honors for the 13th week of the college football season.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Brendon Kay • Sr. • QB • Cincinnati • Marine City, Mich.
Kay helped Cincinnati remain a half-game out of first place in the American Athletic Conference standings as the Bearcats were 24-17 winners at Houston. Kay completed 29 of 50 passes for 386 yards and two touchdowns and added a 14-yard rushing touchdown to stake Cincinnati to a 24-7 third-quarter lead. The performance was Kay's fourth 300-yard game of the season and the fifth of his career. He has thrown for 2,799 yards and 22 touchdowns this season.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Yawin Smallwood • Jr. • LB • UConn • Worcester, Mass.
Smallwood helped UConn pick up its first win of the season as the Huskies were 28-21 winners at Temple. He had a game-high eight tackles, including a sack and two tackles for loss, and scored the game-winning points with a 59-yard interception return for a touchdown. Smallwood ranks third in the American Athletic Conference in tackles, averaging 10.2 stops per game, and has registered his second consecutive season with 100 tackles (102 this season).
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Richie Leone • Sr. • P • Houston • Roswell, Ga.
A semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award, Leone averaged 44.7 yards on 10 punts in Houston's 24-17 loss to Cincinnati. He had three punts of 50 or more yards and saw five downed inside the 20-yard line, including three inside the 10 and two inside the 5. Only one of the 10 punts was returned. Leone ranks fourth in the American Athletic Conference in punting average (43.1 yards).
