In February, former Brewers prospect (and current University of Tennessee safety) Brent Brewer was arrested on charges of domestic assault. Brewer was released on $1,500 and Volunteers coach Derek Dooley suspended Brewer indefinitely.
It appears that suspension is over, as Dooley reinstated Brewer today. The reinstatement comes after Brewer reached a plea agreement and was placed on “judicial diversion” for misdemeanor charges of “offensive touching.” From the Chattanooga Times Free Press:
“He has served a five-week suspension from all team activities,” Dooley said. “There’s still some other internal disciplinary measure that are taken. It was a learning lesson for Brent, a learning lesson for all the members of our team (and) it was very unfortunate what happened.”
This isn’t news that affects the Milwaukee Brewers anymore, but with the case seemingly coming to a close, it’s only fair to post this follow-up.
