Late in Spring Training it appears that the bats are clearly ready for regular season play as Milwaukee took care of the Chicago White Sox by a score of 13-7. It was a good thing the bats were working as starting pitcher Zack Greinke had easily his roughest outing of the Spring, going just three innings.
Greinke had most of the damage done to him in his second inning of work where the Southsiders batted around and scored five runs to put the White Sox up 5-3. The bullpen showed up and as a result Kameron Loe got his second win of Spring Training.
The final line for Greinke’s last start before the regular season kicks off was three innings pitched, five earned runs on five hits, and three walks. He did strike out two batters but couldn’t go deep in his final tune up of Spring Training.
Milwaukee really opened things up as they scored runs in each inning from the 5th to the 8th and by that time the Brewers had built up the winning margin.
A brand new signing, but a familiar name to some Brewers fans, Jason Jaramillo (Racine, WI native) made his appearance as a pinch hitter count big time as he knocked in a grand slam to put the Brewers on top by the winning margin. Joining him in hitting a home run was Brooks Conrad who hit his fourth of Spring Training to kick off the scoring for the Brewers on the day.
Fellow utility infielder Cesar Izturis had a great game as well, going 3-for-4 with three RBI’s. That improved his Spring Training average to an underwhelming .228 though.

– with RBI’s today Jonathan Lucroy, Carlos Gomez, and Cesar Izturis went over the double digit mark in that category for Spring Training.
– the Brewers pounded out 2 triples and 3 doubles as both teams combined for 4 triples, 3 doubles, and 3 home runs in just the first 7 1/2 innings of the game.
– Brewers relievers Kameron Loe, Manny Para, Tim Dillard, and R.J. Seidel held the White Sox bats silent as they allowed just one hit over the final four innings of work.
Tomorrow will be an interesting day for the Brewers as they go Split Squad for a day/night doubleheader. Game one is scheduled for a 2:05pm Central start against the Cubs in Mesa, AZ. The afternoon game will only feature Lucroy, Gamel, and Morgan from the MLB roster with the rest being made up of the AA Hunstville Stars. Scheduled to start that game is Kyle Heckathorn.
The nightcap will see the rest of the Brewers, including starter Randy Wolf, head to Chase Field to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks. Start time for that game is 8:05pm Central. Both games can be heard on gameday audio and should be fun ones to listen to if you’re so inclined.
