When David Stearns was hired as Brewers GM last year, I thought he resembled Ryan Braun a bit. He had a similarly thin frame, dark hair and a long nose. The eyes were of familiar effect.
But until I paged through one of my baseball-card albums recently, I didn’t realize precisely what about Braun my mind had faintly recalled when I first saw Stearns. I think I’ve identified it.
Oh, my. The 2005 Draft Pick card from Topps purports to be of Braun but this could be Stearns in a parallel universe. Braun, 32, is a little bit older than Stearns but they are approximately the same age, which only makes their intertwining appearances all the more striking.
