A 5-2 victory for the Crew, Dave Bush (4-6) gets the win, Francisco Cordero makes it interesting again by putting two runners on in the bottom of the 9th but picks up his 25th Save, and Billy Hall stays walk-a hot with another RBI-double, 2 walks, and his second stolen base of the season.
No Yovani Gallardo sighting, which brings us one step closer to him starting Monday. Thanks to Bush for sticking it out 6.1 innings, and some fairly efficient work from Matt Wise and Derrick Turnbow. I think either of the latter two should still be available tomorrow to pick up Jeff Suppan, and Chris Spurling should also be available.
Suppan will run against Kevin Slowey, the latest young Twins pitcher with star potential to be called up. Makes one wonder why they ever would have bothered with the likes of Sidney Ponson or Ramon Ortiz.
Corey Hart keeps coming up big in the lead-off spot — he walked again and had a 2-RBI single that broke things open for the Crew. More and more it’s looking like left field is the weak spot going into 2008. How fast will Matt LaPorta be ready again?
Gotta say that things are looking up. Like they were doing in April and early May, the team seems to be firing on all cylinders. They had 9-hits from 8 different guys tonight, drew three walks, and managed to score without hitting a single HR! The Twins are slumping, and it looks like the Crew is ready to go on another run. No better time to do so with a 9-game homestand starting Monday.
Very beatable teams coming up at Miller Park. Team Geroidatric for three, then the lowly Royals, and division foes Houston Astros. I should not get my hopes up, but I can’t help but. Go Brew Crew!!!
