Brewers sign Taylor Jungmann, Jed Bradley

After last year’s emotional signing deadline night that saw the Brewers leave without a first-round pick, it seemed like a lot of fans were bracing for the worst, even if there wasn’t much reason to worry.

In the end, the Brewers didn’t come away empty-handed this year. Not only did they lock up both first round picks — Taylor Jungmann and Jed Bradley — but they also inked 18th-round infielder Chris McFarland for $315,000. MacFarland slipped to the 18th round because of signability concerns (he was considered a very strong commit to Rice), but the Brewers are virtually paying him like a Top 100-or-so pick. Jungmann got $2.525 million, while Bradley reportedly signed for $2 million.

I’ll have more on the signings tomorrow morning and what it means for the farm system as a whole, but for now, you can rest easy knowing that the Brewers were able to add some talent that should be able to rise quickly.
