Brews end skid, beat Reds, 8-4

The Brewers won the second game of the series against the Reds Saturday night, 8-4, to stay within a ½ game of Chicago, who won earlier in the day. Claudio Vargas kept the Redlegs scoreless until the 6th, while Gabe Gross’s 3-run shot in the 3rd gave Vargas an ample cushion to work with. Geoff Jenkins added an additional 3-run shot in the bottom of the 6th to give the Crew a 6-1 lead. Vargas, despite 5 walks, got the win to move to 10-4 on the season. Chris Capuano goes on Sunday in the rubber match. Rumor has it that this is his last chance to prove to Ned Yost that he deserves to remain in the rotation. Hopefully, Cappy will take the attitude that a stint in the bullpen isn’t as bad as getting sent down, so as to take some pressure off of himself. The Reds, however, send their ace, Aaron Harang, to the mound. With all the rain in the area, Miller Park should be good and humid, making long balls even rarer than usual.
