Brian Kelly spoke with the media after a closed scrimmage practice. He sounded like he was in better spirits. Kelly reminds me of one of my old high school coaches.
One practice, during two-a-days in August, the temperature was around the 109 heat index. Too hot for a legal practice. Instead of canceling practice and doing film or something to that effect indoors, we were made to put on our full pads stretch, do grass drills, and then split into individuals. Almost immediately into individuals, you could hear our coach (working with the LB’s) screaming, “That’s a fumble!!! That’s a fucking fumble!!! Get the fuck out of here, all of ya!!! Get the fuck out!!!! “
Practice was over, and the seniors ( I was a sophomore) went into the locker room pissed as hell and crying because they thought they let the team, the coaches, and themselves down to get kicked out of practice.
I knew better. It was a way for him to let us off the hook- yet still be a hard ass and have us coming back to work harder. Brian Kelly has me waxing nostalgic. Nice.
