Stephen Whyno at Philadelphia Sports Daily reports that Danny Briere was fined $1,000 for punching Brandon Prust from the bench during the third period of yesterday’s game. Scott Hartnell also threw a punch at Prust but missed.
…same fine Dubinsky received for getting involved from the bench during the Rangers melee with the Oilers last month, so I’m ok with it.
On why the Flyers bench reacted the way they did after Prust hit Kimmo Timonen…
“Certainly he was trying to hit Kimmo as hard as he could, and our guys didn’t like that,” Ville Leino said. “They gave a little bit back, but I think it’s just part of a tough hockey game.”
…please tell me Leino is joking. The Flyers get upset when one of their players is hit hard? It’s hockey everyone hits hard. The old Broad Street Bullies must be embarrassed to have worn the same jersey as these cry babies.
