In the 20th round of baseball’s 2010 Amateur Draft, the San Francisco Giants selected Brett Bochy, son of manager Bruce Bochy.
Saturday night, the Giants made history against the Los Angeles Dodgers when the elder Bochy called on his son to pitch in the sixth inning. You see, of the handful of instances where a son has played for his dad, the Bochys are the only manager-pitcher combo…meaning this was the first time a manager handed the ball to his son during a big league game.

Andy Van Slyke’s kid just homered off Bruce Bochy’s kid to score Tom Gordon’s kid, if you want to feel even older than you are.

Yup…a second generation Major Leaguer gave up a home run to a fellow second generation Major League while, yes, another second generation player was on base.
That’s gotta be a record too, right?
