News broke over the weekend that the Bruins and Claude Julien have agreed to a contract extension. For some odd reason the Bruins didn’t release the terms. TSN in Canada believes it is a three year deal and if they believe it, I will believe it. From TSN:
BOSTON — Claude Julien, who led the Boston Bruins to the playoffs in each of his seven full seasons as coach, has signed a multiyear contract extension.
Julien coached the Bruins to the Stanley Cup championship in 2010-11 and is the longest serving coach in consecutive seasons in the team’s history.
If Julien lasts the three years under the Bruins there is a chance he becomes the teams’ all-time coaching wins leader. Art Ross currently holds the honor at 361 wins as a Bruins head coach. Julien is currently sitting at 310 career regular season wins as a Bruins head coach.
Personally I have some mixed feelings about the extension. I’m aware of Julien’s history with the Bruins and the success that his style has brought the franchise. I’m also aware that his style has seemingly held back players from reaching their full offensive potential (Wheeler, Seguin).
Love it? Hate it?
