It was Military Appreciation night at the TD Garden and the Bruins put on a show for all the troops in attendance. The Bruins were coming off of a disappointing 3-2 loss to the Montreal Canadians on Tuesday night. At first, it looked like yet again the Bruins would be fighting an uphill battle all day long as Nick Foligno scored for the Blue Jackets just 2 minutes and 29 seconds into the game.
But what we didn’t know is that the Bruins offense would explode and put up four goals before the period would end. It all started with a slapshot goals from the point by Torey Krug. Followed by a Matt Beleskey goal just about a minute later. Austin Czarnik and Tim Schaller would also score to put the Bruins up big at the end of the first period.
David Backes put the icing on the cake midway through the second period with a nifty snapshot that just found it’s way past Blue Jackets goalie Curtis McElhinney who replaced Blue Jackets starter Seregi Bobrovsky who was pulled after letting in 4 goals on 9 shots.
It was a great team win for the Bruins as they will now go on the road to take on the Coyotes, Avalanche, and Wild. They will return home on the 19th to take on the Winnipeg Jets.
