Per TSN, the Boston Bruins have re-signed Merlot Line centerman Gregory Campbell and PK extraordinaire Chris Kelly to multi-year deals.
Kelly’s deal is for four years, $12 million while Campbell has a three-year deal worth $4.8 million.
We love Chris Kelly but this still is a bit of an overpayment, but not as bad as we feared. Four years seems about a year too long, too. He had 39 points in 82 games last season for the Bruins, a career high. We’ll assume his PK skills are why he’s making so much so we don’t cry.
Re-signing Campbell keeps the same level of grit to the fourth line plus means the Bruins are gonna get out of all those suspensions they don’t get out of.
Bruins still need to re-sign Tuukka Rask. Just sayin’.
