BSH Mailbag: “Oh my god the draft is here” Edition

.

The weekly mailbag is back and it is here to give you all the info you could ever need as a Blue Jackets fan. Let’s not waste any time and get right into it.

Names always slide this time of year and players who are ranked lower always manage to jump up. Each team has their own list so it is tough to pinpoint who goes where. A name that I would really like if he does slip out of the first round, is Alex DeBrincat. He is one of two draft eligible OHL players to score fifty goals this season. A pretty good group to be in. He is undersized, so some teams may shy away from him but I think he will be a big time player.

As for a defender, I think Kale Clague is a name to watch. He was on a stacked Brandon Wheat Kings team and could slide down some team’s lists. He has the offensive game and does well in his own end. He has some untapped potential and could be a high upside defender, something that is missing after Zach Werenski.

Well let’s do the three that won’t be on the team to start out. My best guess would be Gregory Campbell, Fedor Tyutin and Jared Boll. Both Tyutin and Boll are buyout candidates and Campbell is not necessary with the fringe NHL talent they have at the center position.

Couple of cop out answers to start. Puljujarvi and Werenski are two that I expect to be on the Jackets next year and I am going to go for the off the board pick of Michael Chaput replacing Gregory Campbell. Chaput may not be much of an upgrade offensively but he comes at a much cheaper price.

I am higher on Dubois than most. Having only seen a few of his games, he dominates the game whenever he has the puck and is a man amongst boys in the QMJHL. I would probably rank him slightly ahead of Tkachuk, who I believe benefitted greatly from his teammates. Dubois can do everything for a team and can fit into any system. Whoever selects him is getting a damn good player.
