Buchholz shut down for season; Kottaras called up

The Red Sox have shut down minor league pitcher Michael Bowden (stay tuned for Mike Scandura’s interview with him tomorrow) and the No-Hit Kid, Clay Buchholz, who as we all know, had a rough season this year. Hopefully he comes into spring training ready to do some damage.
The Sox called up catcher George Kottaras and first baseman Chris Carter. Kottaras is unlikely to see any at-bats but will benefit from the tutelage of bullpen coach Gary Tuck. Carter will get the occasional pinch at-bat, and it looks as if his lack of defense will prevent him from ever sticking in the majors for an extended period of time.
