I should be much more happy about tonight’s win but I just can’t seem to get excited about it, hence the blog title. I really wanted to include the line about Henry Rollins, but it just didn’t fit.
Tippett got a win over his old team, the Dallas Stars. Schlem got his first goal (and it was awesome, go Schlem!) Vrbata finally got a goal. Sami played with a broken finger. Maloney tells us, “They just freeze it and he plays”. Like its no big deal. Sometimes hockey players just amaze me at how tough they are.
Before the game I went to Season Ticket Rookie Camp with Yotesgurl and this may be why I am kind of blah. I was at the arena from 2:30 until 8:30. That is a long ass time. I walked away with a lot of free swag, all of which I got last year. Because it was the end of the season STH gifts. But I also won her a Jovo signed jersey. I am Jovo cursed! Don Maloney confirmed the the Chris Chelios was a rumor gone wrong. THANK GOD. And Doug Moss loves us. Yes, the president and COO of the Coyotes knows us and loves us. And tells us that he though of us when the crowd starts chanting “goal” during the reviews. Hmmmm, maybe we need to tone it down a bit? NAH. That would be boring!
But anyway… I digress. The Coyotes started off bad. Then with about 10 minutes left in the first they woke up. I am still not happy with the PP and the way we spend too much time in the other team’s zone. I can’t even talk about the PP; that is how bad it is. If we get the puck into their zone all we do is pass. Pass, pass, pass. Ok boys…. I know you can pass the puck. Why not try shooting it? You are not going to get the perfect shot but you might bang in a rebound. I don’t care how we get the goal, I just want to get it! Stick Pyatt and Pru in front of the net and make them stay there. Then have everyone else just fire on net. Something will go in!
Shane got a penalty shot but he missed. But the best part? Everyone stood up and chanted “Doan” while we were waitung for Turco to stop yaking at the refs, or whatever time waster he was doing. I’ve said it before, our crowd isn’t large but we are loud and proud! Even Don Maloney commented on it. He said he was in Toronto and the building was sold out but dead quiet. He went on to say how we may not have a large crowd but they are very into the game and rock the house. I of course am paraphrasing because Don Maloney does not say things like “rock the house”. He does have jokes however, “I’m much better looking in person, don’t you think?” Ahhh GMDM, how we love you.
Wow, I got way off topic again….
Also, the fans stood for the last minute or so. It was fantastic. Tonight was a “we win, you win” so everyone in attendance gets tickets to another game.
I am all over the place with this blog so I will leave you with this:
1) Sami played 24 minutes and 29 shifts. With a broken finger. That is my lil cowboy warrior!
2) Pru did not play. According to Doug Moss, he is hurt. Hopefully he will be back Monday because I am getting a Prucha jersey then. I will be the only fan to rock a Prucha jersey at the job. Go me.
3) We bought Christmas cards designed by the boys. In crayons. They are fabulous! If I remember, I will see if my scanner works with the new laptop and post them. I can’t make any promises since it hasn’t worked in years. Maybe if I feel really up to it I can take pictures of them instead.
4) That’s all I got. I have a headache from the brat that was sitting next to me and now the neighbors are playing their Mexican music quite loud, which is not helping the head.
