The news started to get bad when the Bucs lost hope of Aaron Sears going back to his old self. Then the injuries started to happen this year, and you thought it couldn’t get any worse. Out of nowhere, the Bucs started to win with backup offensive linemen, and found themselves with new problems. What to do with all these O-Linemen who can now start! Jeremy Zuttah really didn’t have a great year as left guard, so mediocre in fact that the Bucs brought in Keydrick Vincent who beat him out in preseason. But then Jeff Faine went down, and Zuttah who pretty much played about as much Center as you an I, got the nod in front of Josh Freeman and IT happened. IT, was the Bucs finding out they had serious Offensive Line depth. A rookie Ted Larson took the left guard spot, and performed so well (other than the typical rookie penalties) that Larson is still the starting left guard while Zuttah waits for another chance. The Bucs now have two options and Center. Then Jeremy Trueblood went down as Right Tackle. Enter newcomer James Lee who has done an admirable job there. Now true the line is causing some turmoil with false start penalties, and illegal proceedures, thats to be expected for a team starting so many newcomers, but the Bucs offensively are making up for it. If this team behind 2nd year QB Josh Freeman can respond with so many 3rd and 12s, imagine when the penalties stop and the offense gets to see more reasonable 3rd and 4s. Not only do the offensive linemen deserve credit for picking up the system so quickly, the Bucs front office deserves credit for finding these guys. Mark Dominik and Raheem Morris have already gotten accolades for their excellent job of scouting Mike Williams, Arrelious Benn, LeGarrett Blount, but now they need even more credit for their work in finding these linemen who have contributed so much in such a quick time span. Under Jon Gruden and Bruce Allen, Offensive linemen were drafted, brought in from other teams, only to not even make it to the 53 man roster or the practice squad. These guys here at One Buc Place are the main reason this Bucs team is 6-3 and racing toward a winning record with only 3 more victories.
